When a man meet his God.

When a man meet his God.

The Offspring Japan Tour 2001 would be the greatest if I didn't almost suffercate to death in the awfully overcrowded Makuhari Messe.....The Final Smashing Pumpkins (right before their breakup) Japan tour 1999 would also be the greatest if it wasn't done in a fully seated Tokyo Kokusai Forum orchestrial concert hall...Alanis Moresette,RHCP,Linkin Park, etc. would be the great if I could know/like most of their singles/tracks....but Weezer in Studio Coast was truly exceptional....again, Weezer is GOD!!!

I've been along with the music of Weezer since their 1st album and I could relate almost every tracks of in their albums to a lot of memorial events in my life. Some are :

the blue album - It was during my SPM year, I could clearly remember I played the blue album over and over again while I was burning the midnight oil. "The World Has Turned And Left Me Here" is the most meaningful song for me in this album, check out the lyric you'll know and then you'll know me.

pinkerton - When I was having a hard time learning japanese but the story of Lieutenant Pinkerton and a geisha named Chou Chou-san (Madam Butterfly) inspired me to live as gaijin in the land of the rising sun. It took me about 3 years to figure out what "onnanotachi konichiwa" means. - which is the intro of the track no 9 (Falling For You) in the album.

the green album - After 5 long years of waiting (not mentioning the rumours of Weezer breakup) finally the new album was released. I was in the middle of finishing my thesis that time and it was a critical time for me to decide whether I should stay in Japan or work in some rice cooker plant in Shah Alam.

maladroit - Frankly speaking, not much memory in this album. Guess how I found out about the release of this album? - I was wasting time in Shibuya waiting for the next appointment with a client, strolled into Tower Record, and found it near the section of the artists with the W initial. First I thought it was some shitty Weezer remixed album but it's not - not Weezer's fan way to find a new Weezer album. Anyway the video "Dope Nose" is one cool one, a nice way to describe the "bosozoku" in japan.

make believe - Just right after signing my regretful letter of resignation from Goldman Sach. Since GS Tokyo office is in Roppongi Hills and the first single in album make believe is "Beverly Hills", whenever I go to a karaoke box to sing this song, instead of Beverly Hills, I'll sing it with Roppongi Hills - "Roppongi Hills, that's where I want to be, working in Roppongi Hills" .

I don't know who can withstand this song - I think I'm the only person who can't.

This is the first rock concert where I broke to tears while other people were jumping around...it's just the lyrics, the lyrics.

I really wanted to take pictures of what happened inside Studio Coast especially when Rivers suddenly appeared in the middle of the crowd with an acoustic guitar in his hands and "Hoot Hoot"...the acoustic version of "Island In The Sun" but since I don't want the stage staffs to confiscate my brand new T9(only still available in japan), I snatched the pics below taken by the 'authorized' staffs on that day from www.weezer.com

With one of the audience, Yumiko(introduced by Rivers). Played the guitar during the "Sweater Song".

You guys are the best. Till the next Japan tour...hopefully.

There is God...

God will be in Studio Coast.

In spite of all the downers I had last week, finally....after 8 years of craving....I will meet God in Studio Coast.
