dependable me

tuesday 2:26 a.m.,where i should be...my bed, sleeping, until that irritating sound of my phone.
who in the hell would ring me in the middle of the night??!!!!
hopefully it's not some emergency call from m'sia...oh well, guess i have to take the call.
"hello,i'm diane from CMG london.may i know who's speaking?"
aarrghhhhh!!!!one of those rare trouble calls which means WORK!!!!!
of all the SAs and USGs in London,NY and Tokyo why in world is this call comes to me????
hey!i can tell her that she got the wrong number....naaaa,i met this diane several times when she paid a visit to tokyo office.
"hi diane,this is kadir,k.a.d.i.r"
"hey apsa, sorry to wake you up in the middle of the night.we have a situation here..bla,bla,bla"
with my eyes were half closed,i turned on my PC and remote connect to my office network from home, did a little of this and changed a little bit of that,in the end the problem is solved.
"hey apsa thanks a lot for your help in this time of hour"
"no prob,i'm just doing my job"
the conversation ended and so as the issue,2 extra hours of work and minus 3 hours of today's bedtime.
it's me again who saves the day.

the next morning...i'm off today...went to shinagawa to do my deed as a legal gaijin,to get my re-entry visa,in other means,to avoid from being like that Viktor Navorski in the movie "Terminal",stuck in Narita Airport when i return from m'sia on 22nd next month.

old skool....

it is one of those days where i have this mixed feeling of curiosity, anxiousness on wondering what kind of stuff are hidden deep inside my old backup image CDs which i took from my old macs before i traded for my new one.
so i started to have a look on my backup CD libraries.i thought it would be short but once i scanned deeper on one folder to another,i got stuck totally on my zubuton and later i realized that i was in front of my mac for 5 hours straight, only with my boxer pants on and have no feelings of my legs because they are all so kebas.
what i had there...i got several hundreds of old emails, good old skool sounds of KRIS KROSS and EN VOGUE from NAPSTER,older versions FLASH,DREAMWEAVER,SIM TOWER,other illegal softwares from HOTLINE which took a week or so to download on my 56K that time and a whole lot of naked pics of celebraties.
other than all the trash, several items i found proved to be exceptional including this one:

1 BH 4th from left,2nd row

i cannot really recall when and why in the world i scanned the pic,but whatever it is just brings back old memories,15 years back is a long time.if somebody would ask me,give 5 words which describe those 5 golden years and i would say:

  • JAMBU
  • 1000 tok ketampi
  • TKC
  • RAiden
  • Napalm Death

like i always say on those days 'once a sdarian always a sdarian'...emmmm,i'm not sure whether it still applies on me or not.

the countdown

  • i forget when was the last time i bought baju raya.
  • i forget the chaos of getting a ticket for the raya hols.
  • i forget how to beraya at somebody else's house.
  • i forget the frustration of not finding an open shop/supermarket during 1st day of raya.
  • i still don't know how to mengayam ketupat.
  • i don't remember when was the last time i listened to lagu raya.
  • i don't know if i still can get duit raya.
  • i don't know if it's my time to give duit raya to kids.
  • i still think 1st syawal is the same day as any other day else except there is lunch.
those are the things which will happen if you don't come back to malaysia for aidilfitri for 8 years(dare to challenge my record?) and it all gonna change 4 weeks from now.

royal rumble

one of the coolest thing about living in japan is you can experience it's rumble tumble.japan has over 1500 earthquakes every year, most of them are small but someone who live in somewhere in japan will experience big and disturbing earthquakes at least 20 times a year.the magnitude of the earthquake itself varies from a normal 2 to a destructive 6++.being in a country with too many earthquakes,i'm just too used to earthquakes and sometimes i cannot recognize whether it's an earthquake or just another truck passing nearby.
i remember there was a time when a visitor from NY came to my office.physically, she not that fat but a little chubby, chubbier than everybody else, and it was quite unfortunate on her first time visit to tokyo office where there was a scale 2 earthquake had happened during office hours.
out of sudden, she shouted 'earthquake!!! take cover!!!' and then she hid under her desk while others were ignoring her and continue doing work.right after the earthquake was over, she rushed to my cubicle and said 'what in hell you guys were doing?!!!,don't you all know there was an earthquake just now?!!!'.coincidently, our MD(asia pacific managing director)passed us by and he replied 'oh really,i thought it was you.'.after that she silently went back to her cubicle and spent the rest of the day calling her all her folks back in the states and tell them about the terrifying experience she had.
speaking about earthquakes, there was a 5 pointer(kobe earthquake 1995 was 7) earthquake hit the area i live last night,my second 5 pointer in this year.to make things more interesting, the place that i'm living right now(adachi-ward) is being labelled by japanese earthquake department as one of the top 5 places in tokyo with high casualities if an earthquake with magnitude 5 and above occurs...that's one of the reasons the price of real estate here in adachi-ward is considered as one of the cheapest among other places in tokyo.so if you desires a not so costly poshy life and have that thrill on one of nature's worst phenomenons,adachi-ward welcomes you to the neighbourhood.

nihongo ha ikaga desuka?

went to shinjuku with paul.helped him finding an electronic japanese dictionary.after 13 years in japan finally he got that motivation of learning japanese seriously...all the 'kanji's and stuff.
i remember when i started learning japanese 10 years ago,it was a pain in the ass.first i had to learn and remember all 47 basic letters called of the japanese called 'Hiragana'.next another 47 letters called 'Katagana' specialized for japanese words adopted from foreign languages...after consuming most of your brains cells remembering all 100 cacing looking letters finally the shit of em all,the 'kanji' characters.
'kanji' characters are actually chinese characters,yeah...like those you see up on kedai runcit ah beng's signboard.and what is so fuckin hard about these 'kanji' characters is each character is represented a combination of several 'hiragana's or 'katagana's and there endless 'kanji' characters in the japanese language but you only need to remember about 5000 of em for you to be alright living a japanese life...this is the point where anybody to think twice...or more, whether it's worth continue torturing oneself learning japanese or quit, and learn something else.
i can say that i picked the right choice.i'm not gonna be what i am right and where i am right now if select the other choice which was quiting learning japanese.
anyway,my piece of advice...you better learn french.
