Tandoori Tigers

Tandoori everything BBQ.

Whatever and whenever we will do something (especially when organizing a BBQ party)require planing in means of collecting info like is there going to be a firework show(!!!) near the place we about to do the BBQ...well,it happened to us,we walked about a mile and a half under the blazing sun with our BBQ gear from the BBQ area after being scrammed away due to the firework show at Tamagawa river.
With low on our spirits and the much leftover of my tandoori sauce,we decided put tandoori flavor on almost all the meat including all the sausages we bought and changed the whole BBQ thing to some tandoori festive...tandoori flavored sausage is not bad after all.

Pretended to be on high spirits with Okamoto sempai,Mike,Boogie and their kohais.

As the part of the day's plan,we dragged our Tandoori-smelled bodies to Meiji Jungu Baseball Stadium to watch the ball game between Hanshin Tigers and Yakult Swallows.

Meiji Jingu Baseball Stadium - Home Stadium for Yakult Swallows.

When we arrived at the stadium, it was already the third inning and once we entered the stadium, Tigers scored a tie score to the Swallows which followed by the Tigers 'fight' song 'Rokko Oroshi' (Click play to listen):

Hanshin Tigers x Yakult Swallows.

Rokko Oroshi

Rokko Oroshi Rokko oroshi ni sasso to
Soten kakeru nichirin no
Seishun no haki uruwashiku
Kagayaku wagana zo Hanshin Taigasu
O-o-o-o

Fure-fure-fure-fure
Toshi hatsuratsu tatsu ya ima
Nekketsu sude ni teki o tsuku
Ju-o no iki takaraka ni

O-o-o-o Hanshin Taigasu
Fure-fure-fure-fure

kagayaku wagazo Hanshin Taigasu
O-o-o-o
Hanshin Taigasu
Fure-fure-fure-fure

The Wind of Mount Rokko (An official English version, not a direct translation)

Dashing swiftly through the wind blowin' from Rokko
Like the big sun soaring in the clear blue sky
Mighty spirit of the youth shows the victor's grace
The name that shines in glory "Hanshin Tigers"
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!
Hanshin Tigers
Hooray, Hooray, Hooray, Hooray!
Now we are bursting with energy, we are full of fight.
Our hot blood and spirit has crushed enemies will already.
The king of animals has a mind to win the victory.
We are matchless Hanshin Tigers.
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!
Hanshin Tigers
Hooray, Hooray, Hooray, Hooray!
Powerful hits and skillful pitch achieved a thousand times
Trained with every discipline here at Koshien Crowned with constant victory glorious, matchless feat Always proud, invincible "Hanshin Tigers"
Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh!
Hanshin Tigers
Hooray, Hooray, Hooray, Hooray!

Jingu Stadium was almost painted in yellow and black.

Although Meiji Jingu Stadium is the home stadium for Yakult Swallows, stadium was jammed packed with Hanshin Tigers fans/supporters.
Okamoto-sempai and me also switched ourself to Hanshin Tigers supporters mode with Kanemoto Tomoaki's(Tigers 4th batter) number 6 baseball jersey and Tigers happi fully prepared for all out support/cheer for the Tigers.

A bunch of enthusiastic Tigers supporters.

When it was time for Kanemoto turn on the batter box at the 5th inning, the supporters started the Kanemoto's call which goes (Click play to listen):

kitaeta sono karada
ahureru kihaku
sa,kokomade (so-re muko he)
buchikome raitosatando he
(kattobase kanemoto)!!!

English translation

overwhelmed with spirit
now, slug the ball (far over there)
all the way to right standing
(go wallop the ball,kanemoto)!!!

and as the Tigers fans expected Kanemoto blasted a bases-loaded home run to highlight a six-run 5th inning as the Tigers rebounded Saturday night with an 9-3 win in the second game of a three-game set with the third-place Yakult Swallows.

On the lucky 7 inning where supporters blew off the balloons into the air at once....more than you think,it's whole lotsa fun!!!

It was a great game and hopefully Hanshin Tigers will stay at the top notch of the Central League and make it's way to the Japan Series this year.

Finally,a great pose from a loyal Hanshin Tigers fan.

urban heat island

A nice time to talk about the environment.

Despite of the ambitious(huh?!!) development of M'sian cities especially Lembah Klang area,I strongly urged the Datok Bandar and all the filthy rich land developers to hold on to their greedy deeds to turn the 'Garden City of Lights' to some Bedrock filled 3 star hotels and 2nd class shopping malls here and there...or in a few years time, you people will get yourself some thing like Shinjuku,Shibuya and it's nearby places.
In Shinjuku for instances, hardly you can find trees. If you do and say "Oh!there's a tree", you need to walk for some distance till you can say "oh!there's another one".As a result Shinjuku is a nice example of city suffering from an urban heat island(UHI).Due to this UHI phenomenon, tempertures in Shinjuku is 2-6 degrees hotter than other Tokyo suburbs.
Since people in Tokyo district office consider this is a serious issue and should be treated with high priority, many efforts are being done to counter the UHI phenomenon. One of them is the redevelopment of Shinjuku area by rebuilding buildings with specified location so that wind tunnels will be easily formed to transfer heat away from the effected areas.Other than that, plans of planting grass on roofs and top of buildings for not only to battle UHI but also to reduce Carbon Dioxide.
Whatever hi-tech measures are being done in Tokyo, like in KL,it's still not too late for pervention. All i would like to say, let's plant trees for the sake of our future generation...chewaaah!!!
Enough with the environment stuff for now.Though how hot it can get in Shinjuku,it's still nice to go up the roof top and have couple of cold refreshments + fun with friends after work like i did yesterday.

My Ikemen* buddies.

Sure is HOT in Shinjuku.

Yoko-chan gets it from both sides

again,
Natsu,saikou!!!

Suikawari

A watermelon about to be executed.

'Suikawari' translates roughly into SMASHING WATERMELONS (sounds like the name of a certain rock band I love). To simply explain the progression of the game; one person is blindfolded and spun around in his/her place three times.Then,he/she is given a stick. In front of the person,a JUICY watermelon is placed on the ground. The others around the person with the stick are to scream out the directions to the watermelon, and give him/her the signal to swing the stick at the watermelon in an attempt to SMASH the WATERMELON.It might sound like a waste of food/money,but,this is certainly a LOT of fun!The crowd screamed in Japanese "HIDARI!!!" (TO THE LEFT!),"MIGI!!!" (TO THE RIGHT!),"MASSUGU" (STRAIGHT AHEAD!),"UTTE!!!" (HIT THE WATERMELON!).
Wow,how fun!!!

We were enjoying SMASHING PUMK...no,WATERMELON

Another nice thing to do on hot weekend...BBQ near the Tamagawa River.
oh!...1 thing i noticed that most watermelons sold in Japan have a lot of those black seeds in it...why?...i just don't know.
And why watermelons sold in M'sia almost have not seeds in it?is it because the watermelon DNA in M'sia is genetically structured so they don't come up with seeds and Japanese watermelon market doesn't except genetically structured watermelons.
Are we M'sian consuming a lot of genetically structured food...if it is so...OMG!!!

These hot girls know what to do with the watermelon seeds...spit em out!

Normal scenes usually seen during BBQs.

Koichi is doing his stuff with the Yaki-soba.
